4 Proven Solutions to Get Rid of Mosquitoes

Get Rid of MosquitoesMosquitoes or any other biting insects are not only irritating but also can cause dangerous diseases, including malaria and dengue. These insects may be carriers to dangerous micro-organisms which may enter our body to spread diseases. In short, it’s essential to keep these insects away from our home in order to keep our family safe and healthy. Here are some easy solutions for that.

1. Bug Zapper Light Bulb

Of late, some new devices have been invented for keeping away mosquitoes which may prove to be groundbreaking in giving mankind freedom from mosquitoes. Some of them are repellents while some are killers. For example, the Yellow Bulb is a repellent whereas the Bug Zapper Light Bulb is a mosquito killer. The latter attracts insects into a trap using special bulbs and kills them inside. You can read comprehensive reviews of these products and take an informed decision about buying them.

2. Dry Ice

Mosquitoes are attracted to us because of the carbon dioxide we exhale. Dry ice too releases a lot of carbon dioxide. So, if you place dry ice in a container in the room, all mosquitoes are attracted towards the container. Once the mosquitoes get in, you can close the lid. Although this method is time-consuming, it’s quite effective to give you freedom from the irritating insects.

3. Coffee Grounds

This is an easy home remedy to get rid of mosquitoes. All you have to do is to just sprinkle coffee grounds wherever there is stagnant water around your house. Due to the coffee grounds, mosquitoes’ eggs in the water will be forced come to the surface of the water. Once they come to the surface, they will run short of oxygen and get killed before being hatched. Thus this method will stop mosquitoes from breeding.

4. Traps

Traps to catch mosquitoes can either be bought from the market or can be easily made at home. You just need a plastic bottle which you have to cut into halves. Make a solution of brown sugar into hot water. When it cools down, pour it in the bottom half of the bottle. Add yeast to it. Put the funnel part of the other half of the bottle in an upside down position on this bottom part. Wrap the bottle with a black paper keeping the top open. Place this system in a mosquito-prone area. You’ll have to change the solution every two weeks. Mosquitoes will get attracted to the solution due to the sugar fermentation and get trapped and killed.

Try these tips and get rid of the dangerous insects.
