Four Quick Painting Tips for Interior Walls

What’s the easiest way to freshen up the interior of your home? Painting the walls, of course. Nevertheless, if you don’t do it carefully, this project will turn into a nightmare of endless coats and splattered paint. I know you don’t want that to happen, that’s why I asked professionals from JQ Painting Company to share four quick tips with me. Here’s what I’ve found out!
1 – The key to the long-lasting, good-looking results is preparation. Make sure the surface is solid, dry, clean, without imperfections and cracks. Removal of old paint by scraping or sanding can generate fumes and dust containing hazardous substances, so use the proper protective equipment.
2 – Don’t forget to prepare the rest of your room before beginning your painting project. This is the only way to protect your home from spills and splatters. Remove mirrors, pictures, draperies, all the removable hardware, area rugs and receptacle and switch cover plates. All the furniture that cannot be removed from the room should be covered with drop cloths. Light fixtures should be wrapped with plastic.
3 – The right order is crucial. Even the professional painters who use the best paints have occasional spills, drips and splatter, therefore make sure you paint your interior in the right order. For example, when painting ceilings, you should paint a 2 or 3- inch wide strip on the part where it meets the wall. Use an extension pole and a roller; start in a corner and maintain a wet edge by working across the short side.
4 – If you want to achieve professional-looking results you need to use good paint and proper painting results. In addition, it’s crucial to use enough paint, so try to go to the paint can as often as possible. To get the finish you want, you need to let the paint to its work.
