Lubrication of a Noisy Garage Door
Many things should be considered about lubrication of the garage door. Firstly, WD 40 lubricant should not be used to lubricate parts of a noisy garage door. Instead a silicone spray or a lithium spray is more recommended to lubricate parts like sterns, top of chain rail, nubs, hinges, metal rollers that accompany ball bearings and the lock. And some parts of the garage door should not be sprayed by any lubricant, like bottom of chain rail, the garage door track, the chain and the spring.
Keeping the Garage Door Track Clean
A lubricant is not useable for a noisy or sticky garage door track. A lubricant won’t help in eliminating the problem; instead it will start collecting particulate matter which will harden eventually and make the situation even more problematic.
Actually cleaning of garage door track is more necessary than lubricating. You just have to wipe out the inside part of the track with a damp cloth. Next wipe it off using a dry cloth. If there is any sticky residue there which should be removed, WD 40 can be used.

Though every garage door system has its dedicated system for reset, some common steps can resolve the problem, like switching off the power properly by unplugging the opener, holding for 10 seconds and then turning the power on again.
