How to Get Rid of Stains?
Stains are ubiquitous and unexpected. In addition to clothes that we wear, there are several fabrics in our home which decorate it, such as curtains, tablecloths, covers of electronic appliances like TV, music system and computer, bed sheets, and so on. We need to keep them stain-free in order to make them look beautiful always. So, how to get rid of stains? Let’s see.
Ballpoint Pen Ink Stains
Dip an absorbent cloth in methylated spirits and rub it on the stain.
Beetroot Juice Stains
Rinse with cold water. Make a solution of borax and a biological detergent, and soak coloreds in it for about 15 minutes. If white linen is stained, sprinkle borax on the site of stain and wash with hot water. Then wash with a biological detergent.
Blood Stains
Make a heavily salted solution in cold water. You can also make a solution of a biological detergent. When stains are fresh, soak them in the solution. Rub after some time and wash.
Chewing Gum
Freeze the chewing gum with the help of a bag of ice cubes. When it hardens, break it with a knife.
Cooking Fat Stains
Make a paste of sodium bicarbonate by adding a few drops of water to it and apply on the stain. Leave for half an hour and then wash with a biological detergent.
Crayon Stains
First scrape away excess of paint and then dab with methylated spirits.
Perspiration Stains
Soak the stain or sponge it with vinegar. If the fabric is wool, use lemon juice. Then wash.
Red Wine Stains
Flush or dab the stain with carbonated water or soda water and then wash.
Rust Stains
Flush the stain site with lemon juice. Let it stay for 15 minutes and then wash.
Shoe Polish Stains
Dab the stain site with white spirit and then wash.
Tea and Coffee Stains
First flush the stain with cold water. Make a solution of washing detergent and spot clean the stain with it, but not with soap. If the stain still persists, make a solution of borax or of one part of vinegar and two parts of water and soak the stain in it.
Urine Stains
Soak in a solution of detergent and then wash. For a non-washable cloth, make a mild vinegar solution and dab the stain site with it. In case of mattresses, apply shaving foam.
